When we look back at the origins of women\u2019s football, it\u2019s striking to see how early the seeds were planted and how quickly they were dismissed. Even though the first official women\u2019s football club was established in 1894, the sport was still overwhelmingly framed as a male pursuit. Football, in the eyes of most Victorians and Edwardians, was a rugged, physical activity suited only to men, and this perception travelled with the sport as it spread across continents in the early 20th century.<\/span><\/p>

Yet history has a habit of shifting when society is forced to reimagine itself. The First World War became one of those pivotal moments.<\/span>\"Women's<\/p>

As men left factories and industrial workplaces to join the war effort, women stepped into roles they had long been excluded from. France established its first official women\u2019s league in 1919, and on the other side of the world, Australia hosted its first public women\u2019s match in 1921, drawing a crowd of more than 10,000 people.<\/span><\/p>

These early decades laid the foundation for the global women\u2019s game we know today. They were years of resilience, reinvention, and remarkable progress, driven by women who stepped onto the pitch at a time when society insisted they shouldn\u2019t.
